Membership

Our membership covers a wide geographical area from the far NW to away Down South beyond the border - also covers a very wide age range. We are proud to have a (very active) octagerian in our ranks as well as enthusiastic youngsters. Diversity is the spice of life.
Our membership numbers about 55-65 on average…. small enough to know everybody, but large enough to make viable groups for all activities.

All members receive a membership contact list, which is updated regularly.
Membership fees are due in April, with sliding fees for those joining later in the year. The current fee is £20 which includes membership of the Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS). This offers many benefits: -
• Civil Liability insurance cover for all mountaineering activities
• Access to UK-wide club mountain huts, reciprocal rights to Alpine huts
• 1/4 magazine Scottish Mountaineering
• Information and links to current issues
• Affiliation to BMC – courses, insurance etc

Membership of OMC gives you the opportunity to buy clothing/gear/cycles at discount from local and some online outdoor specilaist retailers (see Links)

Informal encouragement and advice for beginners ‘on the hoof’ by more experienced club members does not constitute formal training. The club, its officers or members cannot under any circumstances be held responsible for any loss, injury or accident suffered by any member/ prospective member.
